Expected changes in the Highway Code

The weekend is the most favorite period for all of us. It is the moment when we have the most free time to spend with our dearest people. One of the most frequent weekend plans are car trips. It should be emphasized that trips should always be safe, comfortable and at the lowest possible cost.

For this, a legal initiative has been undertaken regarding the Draft Law “On some additions and changes to Law no. 8378/1998, “Traffic Code of the Republic of Albania”, amended”, which aims to increase road safety, prevent accidents, facilitate citizens and increase the validity period of the driving license.

These changes align with the amended EU Driving License Directive, which requires a verification of minimum standards regarding physical and mental fitness to drive and the validity of driving licenses as well as the imposition of restrictive measures for new (inexperienced) drivers of road vehicles.
